Classic – Traditional Pedicure Treatment

This service is highly recommended every 4-12 weeks, when the nails are long and/or it is necessary to remove modest but not yet problematic calluses on heels, get rid of small corns or soft cracks on heels. In other cases, a Special foot health treatments is recommended.

High-risk foot patients should be checked to prevent health issues or serious problems with the feet, to deal with any pains or risk of infection or amputation due to ingrown toe nails, ulceration etc. In this case, a session is advised every 4-6 weeks instead of a quick tidy up treatment. When dealing with a bigger skin or nail issue, then one of the Special foot health treatments or more frequent treatments may be the solution.

The intensity and extent of the callus formation as well as the structure of the hard skin depends on several factors. During the treatment, the patient will receive detailed information on how they can influence the process of callus formation, thus extending the time between the required foot treatments by up to several weeks.

In the case of having minor hard skin formation, some corns or fissures or cracked skin on the heels, the traditional pedicure is the recommended procedure, where the hard skin is removed, corns are enucleated with a sterile blade and both a scalpel technique and a modern drill machine are applied together.

How often should I have a traditional pedicure treatment?

The skin cell and the normal skin layer formation process itself involves a 28-day cycle, which is why a classic, full traditional foot treatment is not recommended more often than every 4 weeks. More frequent pedicures can actually have an adverse reaction, triggering the skin to form more and harder layers on the plantar area, which is called moccasin skin formation.

Only in rare cases, or with a good reason - for example with a skin formation disorder such as psoriasis - is it acceptable to have a full pedicure more frequently than every 4 weeks.

What to expect during the traditional pedicure treatment?

  • On each and every occasion the patient’s feet are assessed and checked.
  • Professional shortening and shaping of the toenails.
  • Smoothing the nail skin - eponychium, perionychium, cuticle -  which provides a cleaned tidy nail plate.
  • Removing hard skin, enucleating corns with a sterile blade and skin smoothing with dry pedicure drilling machine.

If there are any more serious skin or nail issues, then one of the Special foot health treatments can be a solution.

Optional treatments upon request: Japanese nail care treatment, traditional varnish or CND Shellac, Massage and Spa treatments
